* PLASMA5: add 'VARIANT' variable; sync package list to the 'testing' repo. Eric Hameleers2016-08-222-2/+10
| | | | | | The 'VARIANT' variable allows switching between the 'latest' and 'testing' repositories. The 'testing' repsitory will focus on stuff which is not ready for prime-time, such as wayland, logind (part of systemd) and pam.
* Added package lists and repository info for the LXQT desktop environment. Eric Hameleers2016-08-224-0/+145
| | | | | | | | | | | Note that the 'alien.*' package list which is used for the PLASMA5 ISO also adds the full LXQT desktop. LXQT has a lot of dependencies (covered in the 'lxqtdeps.lst) but almost all of these dependencies are already part of PLASMA5 anyway. The two 'lxqt.*' and 'lxqtdeps.*' package lists are meant for people who do not want to create a PLASMA5 ISO (and therefore do not want to use the 'alien.lst') but want an ISO focusing on LXQT without all the plasma5 or alien stuff.
* alien.lst: added freerdp, gst-plugins-libav and the lumina & lxqt desktops. Eric Hameleers2016-08-221-0/+41

* iso2usb.sh: unsquashfs is not always needed. Eric Hameleers2016-08-151-3/+9
|
* liveinit: sort the modules found with 'find' to assure correct loading order. Eric Hameleers2016-08-151-1/+1
|
* make_slackware_live.sh: Removing old stuff should happen at the beginning. Eric Hameleers2016-08-131-8/+8
|
* Live OS: enable CUPS network browsing by default. Eric Hameleers2016-08-091-0/+1
| | | | This makes remote CUPS printers available locally.
* XFCE: add tigervnc and HP printer support. Eric Hameleers2016-08-083-2/+24
| | | | | | | | While still staying below the CDROM size limit of 737.280.000 bytes, I was able to add lftp, fltk and tigervnc (because I need them), cdrtools and dosfstools (because iso2usb.sh needs them), as well as hplip and net-snmp to complement the recently added cups packages. I hope the XFCE variant now has a fully functional print support.
* iso2usb.sh: add safeguard against mistyping the LUKS passphrase. Eric Hameleers2016-08-041-8/+14
|
* README.txt has been updated. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-0/+17

* Add '-G' parameter to generate ISO image from pre-existing file tree. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-99/+129
| | | | | | | | This is of course a new parameter to the "make_slackware_live.sh" script. It was added to allow the developer to make small changes to the file tree of what is to become the ISO image, and then re-generate the ISO without having to repeat all the other steps (potentially undoing the modifications). Useful for debugging mostly.
* Live OS: enable CUPS by default. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-1/+2
|
* XFCE: another stab at shrinking the resulting ISO to below 703MB. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-0/+4
| | | | Or to be more precise: below 737.280.000 bytes (80min CDROM medium size)
* liveinit: allow modules to be organized in subdirectories. Eric Hameleers2016-07-312-19/+33
| | | | | | | | | | The addons/ and optional/ directory will be searched for *.sxz modules even if they live in subdirectories. This allows you to organize your modules instead of dumping them all into a single directory. If a module fails to load (because it is corrupted for instance) liveinit will mention this on screen and write the modulename to a file '/mnt/live/modules/failed'.
* PLASMA5: refresh the package lists. Eric Hameleers2016-07-312-0/+4
|
* XFCE: shrink the ISO size to fit on CDROM medium again. Eric Hameleers2016-07-313-3/+5
| | | | | No more xaos or bsd-games, and the Tibetan TrueType font tibmachuni-font-ttf has been removed as well. But you get cups back in their place.
* liveinit: warn if a module could not be mounted. Eric Hameleers2016-07-281-4/+9
|
* liveinit: add a forgotten '$MARKER' prefix to a console message. Eric Hameleers2016-07-281-1/+1
|
* PLASMA5: re-organize the package list so that installation follows build order. Eric Hameleers2016-07-231-175/+176

* liveinit: Use Shift-AltGr as the Compose Key, seems to be the sanest choice. Eric Hameleers2016-07-221-7/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As documented in file "/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/xorg.lst": lv3 Key to choose 3rd level lv3:ralt_switch_multikey Right Alt, Shift+Right Alt key is Compose And as explained in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ComposeKey : There are four levels of keyboard entry. Selecting a level involves holding a set of modifier keys down, this changes the function of all the other keys on the keyboard. The levels are, by default: Level Modifier Keys produced ------------------------------- 1 None Lowercase letters, numbers, etc. 2 Shift Uppercase letters, symbols printed on keyboard, etc. 3 AltGr Extra symbols not printed on the keyboard, some dead keys. 4 AltGr-Shift Even more symbols, more dead keys. Dead keys are keys that appear to do nothing at first; they apply an accent to the next letter you type. Third and fourth level choosers: Holding down the AltGr key and pressing another key will produce a third level character. Holding down the AltGr and Shift keys (the order can be important) and pressing another key will produce a fourth level character. Note that some combinations are dead keys; an additional key-press is required whereupon a diacritic will be added to the final character keyed. Compose key: Keying the combination Shift+AltGr (in that order), releasing these keys, then entering two other keys will produce a special character.

* liveinit: use AltGr as Compose Key only for US keyboard layouts. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-11/+24
|
* Add swedish (svensk) language choice to the Slackware Live boot menu. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-0/+1
|
* Add the "multilib" squashfs module last so we can distribute it separately. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-6/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | The file "0020-slackware_multilib-current-x86_64.sxz" (for Slackware64-current) or "0020-slackware_multilib-14.2-x86_64.sxz" (for Slackware64 14.2) can be extracted from the ISO afterwards and distributed separately and independently from the Slackware Live ISOs. If you want to add multilib to your persistent USB version of Slackware Live, you just copy the above squashfs module into the /liveslak/addons/ directory of the liveslak partition on the stick (this enables multilib by default). or else copy it to /liveslak/optional/ if you want to enable multilib on boot manually by adding a "load=multilib" boot parameter.
* liveinit: optionally specify XkbOptions through the "xkb" boot parameter. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-10/+25
| | | | | | | | | Variable XKB can be set to "XkbLayout,XkbVariant,XkbOptions". For example "xkb=ch,fr,compose:sclk,grp:alt_shift_toggle" Note that the XkbOptions can be several comma-separated values. The XkbLayout and XkbVariant values must not contain commas. You can still set just the XkbVariant by adding something like "kbd=ch xkb=,fr"
* Add variable LIVEUID to define the name of the 'live' user account. Eric Hameleers2016-07-202-13/+20
| | | | | | In 'make_slackware_live.conf' you can give that variable "LIVEUID" another value than the default "live" if you want to create a Live Edition where the Live user account is not called "live".
* slackpkg+: switch from 'ktown_testing' to 'ktown'. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-4/+4

| * iso2usb.sh: make the name of the '/home' LUKS container configurable. Eric Hameleers2016-06-241-18/+44
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | New parameter to the script: -l|--lukshome <name> Custom path to the containerfile for your LUKS encrypted /home (slhome by default). Note: not only (just as with the persistence container) can you choose a custom name for the the LUKS container file but you can also create it in a subdirectory instead of in the filesystem root now.

* | Add support for multilib. Eric Hameleers2016-06-243-1/+216
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | New parameter '-M' to the "make_slackware_live.sh" script will add a squashfs module "0020-slackware_multilib-VERSION-ARCH.sxz" to the iso, its contents based on the ./pkglists/multilib.* package repo definitions. Only for the x86_64 architecture of course. If you already have a USB Live, you can simply copy this module into the directory "/liveslak/addons" to transform your pure 64bit Slackware Live Edition into a multilib variant.

| * liveslak: enhance the boot debug a bit. Eric Hameleers2016-06-231-5/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some explanation about what the 'debug' boot parameter does: 'debug=1' => enable some strategic pauses during boot while showing 'mount' and 'blkid' output, so you can scroll back and inspect the proceedings (just 'debug' also enables level 1). 'debug=2' => enable verbose script execution in addition to the above pause moments. 'debug=3' => verbose script execution but without the mount/blkid info during the strategically placed pauses. 'debug=4' => dumps you into a debug shell right before the switch_root. No other pauses other debugging aids are offered like with levels 1, 2 or 3. But you can check the health of your Live system before Slackware boots up.

* README.txt: document the new options in liveslak. Eric Hameleers2016-06-171-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | * iso2usb.sh: added '-r' parameter to refresh an existing USB Live stick with data from a new Live ISO. * boot: added 'nop=wipe' parameter which will cause all persistent data (in the persistence directory or a persistent data container) to be erased. This allows you to repair a case of corrupted persistent data which can occur after you modified files that are part of a squashfs module. Note that this boot option will leave an encrypted /home un-touched!
