* Make it obvious that some scripts are templates and cannot be used as-is. Eric Hameleers2017-01-231-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | This affects: - pxeserver - setup2hd Both have been renamed with extension '.tpl' as indication that they are templates. The 'make_slackware_live.sh' script performs a series of substitutions on them to produce the actual scripts inside the ISO.
* Add '2017' to the copyright statements. Eric Hameleers2017-01-231-1/+1

* setup2hd: more polishing of the Slackware installer scripts. Eric Hameleers2017-01-231-2/+16
| | | | | | Hard-coded '/mnt' in the Slackware installer scripts is an ongoing annoyance. With the modifications in this commit I was able to successfully install Slackware Live to a UEFI computer using 'setup2hd'.
* Add 'ntfs' module to the initrd for mounting NTFS partitions (read-only). Eric Hameleers2017-01-101-1/+1
| | | | | | This should allow people to store the ISO on a NTFS filesystem and then use something like grub or pxelinux to boot liveslak from that ISO file using the 'livemedia=/dev/sdX:/path/to/slackwarelive.iso' syntax.
* pkglists: add alien's restricted repository. Eric Hameleers2016-12-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Add packages from the restricted repository to the PLASMA5 ISO: - ffmpeg - handbrake - lame - libdvdcss - vlc Also, add 'keepassx' to alien's regular package list.
* (e)liloconfig: only try to patch these scripts if they are contained in the ISO. Eric Hameleers2016-12-161-2/+6
|
* Make it possible to replace a package instead of simply upgrading it. Eric Hameleers2016-12-131-5/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Example: Replace eudev with systemd (actual request made by Dlackware). The package list should then contain the following line: eudev%systemd I.e. the package to be replaced, followed by a '%', followed by the name of the package that replaces the original. This is similar syntax to the way in which you tell upgradepkg to replace one package with another bearing a different name.
* Make setting of the root & live user's password a bit safer. Eric Hameleers2016-12-131-2/+2
| | | | Additionally, this should work better with a PAM based system.
* Slackware Live Edition: version 1.1.5.1.1.5 Eric Hameleers2016-12-081-1/+1

* make_slackware_live.sh: liloconfig is in /sbin - not in /usr/sbin . Eric Hameleers2016-11-301-1/+1

* (e)liloconfig need patching to make them work properly on Slackware Live. Eric Hameleers2016-11-161-1/+3
| | | | | | | | The cause is the use of hard-coded '/mnt' instead of using $T_PX variable. In Slackware's official installer, the computer's hard disk is always mounted at /mnt so that there is no apparent issue. Slackware Live's 'setup2hd' however, needs to mount the hard disk on /setup2hd because /mnt is already used.
* XFCE: remove unused glibc locales to conserve space. Eric Hameleers2016-11-091-0/+15
| | | | | The XFCE ISO is below 737.280.000 bytes again. Also, the 'vim' package fits in now, which makes gvim a lot more functional.
* Slackware Live Edition: version 1.1.4.1.1.4 Eric Hameleers2016-11-091-1/+1

* Make the name 'min' of the minimal package list customizable. Eric Hameleers2016-11-091-4/+9
| | | | | | | | The 'min' package list contains the generic kernel. This package list is special because the 'make_slackware_live.sh' script will also take care of the ISO boot configuration while processing it. A custom Live OS may want to use a custom filename instead of "min.lst", so the variable $MINLIST was created for that purpose.

* Live OS: enable CUPS network browsing by default. Eric Hameleers2016-08-091-0/+1
| | | | This makes remote CUPS printers available locally.
* XFCE: add tigervnc and HP printer support. Eric Hameleers2016-08-081-2/+17
| | | | | | | | While still staying below the CDROM size limit of 737.280.000 bytes, I was able to add lftp, fltk and tigervnc (because I need them), cdrtools and dosfstools (because iso2usb.sh needs them), as well as hplip and net-snmp to complement the recently added cups packages. I hope the XFCE variant now has a fully functional print support.
* Add '-G' parameter to generate ISO image from pre-existing file tree. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-99/+129
| | | | | | | | This is of course a new parameter to the "make_slackware_live.sh" script. It was added to allow the developer to make small changes to the file tree of what is to become the ISO image, and then re-generate the ISO without having to repeat all the other steps (potentially undoing the modifications). Useful for debugging mostly.
* Live OS: enable CUPS by default. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-1/+2
|
* XFCE: another stab at shrinking the resulting ISO to below 703MB. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-0/+4
| | | | Or to be more precise: below 737.280.000 bytes (80min CDROM medium size)
* liveinit: allow modules to be organized in subdirectories. Eric Hameleers2016-07-311-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | The addons/ and optional/ directory will be searched for *.sxz modules even if they live in subdirectories. This allows you to organize your modules instead of dumping them all into a single directory. If a module fails to load (because it is corrupted for instance) liveinit will mention this on screen and write the modulename to a file '/mnt/live/modules/failed'.

* make_slackware_live.sh: add only the graphics driver module relevant to the OS. Eric Hameleers2016-07-221-2/+2

* Add the "multilib" squashfs module last so we can distribute it separately. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-6/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | The file "0020-slackware_multilib-current-x86_64.sxz" (for Slackware64-current) or "0020-slackware_multilib-14.2-x86_64.sxz" (for Slackware64 14.2) can be extracted from the ISO afterwards and distributed separately and independently from the Slackware Live ISOs. If you want to add multilib to your persistent USB version of Slackware Live, you just copy the above squashfs module into the /liveslak/addons/ directory of the liveslak partition on the stick (this enables multilib by default). or else copy it to /liveslak/optional/ if you want to enable multilib on boot manually by adding a "load=multilib" boot parameter.
* Add variable LIVEUID to define the name of the 'live' user account. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-13/+17
| | | | | | In 'make_slackware_live.conf' you can give that variable "LIVEUID" another value than the default "live" if you want to create a Live Edition where the Live user account is not called "live".
* slackpkg+: switch from 'ktown_testing' to 'ktown'. Eric Hameleers2016-07-201-4/+4

* Add support for multilib. Eric Hameleers2016-06-241-1/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | New parameter '-M' to the "make_slackware_live.sh" script will add a squashfs module "0020-slackware_multilib-VERSION-ARCH.sxz" to the iso, its contents based on the ./pkglists/multilib.* package repo definitions. Only for the x86_64 architecture of course. If you already have a USB Live, you can simply copy this module into the directory "/liveslak/addons" to transform your pure 64bit Slackware Live Edition into a multilib variant.
* Fix generating the 32bit Slackware Live ISO. Eric Hameleers2016-06-151-6/+6

* Deal properly with the user enabling any optional/addon kernel modules. Eric Hameleers2016-06-151-17/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | When the user loads a non-system squashfs module (for instance from the optional or addons subdirectories) and this contains kernel modules, then the kernel must be made aware using a "depmod -a" call. The previous implementation did this at the end of rc.local but that was too late in the boot process: the kernel needs to be aware of the new modules straight from the start, so that udev can enable the hardware which is supported by these new kernel drivers on time. So the depmod call was moved to the live init script (inside the initrd).
* On 32bit, use the non-SMP kernel by default. Eric Hameleers2016-06-101-2/+2
| | | | | You can define SMP32="YES" in the script or in its .conf file, if you want your Live ISO to boot the 32bit SMP kernel instead.

* Add the 'live' user account to additonal groups "dialout, games, disk". Eric Hameleers2016-06-031-1/+1
| | | | | | The "dialout" group is required for working with 3G USB modems and ppp connections. If the user wants to play UNIX games, then the "games" group membership is needed. And "disk" group was added for good measure.
* XFCE: do not copy optional/ or addons/ content into the XFCE ISO. Eric Hameleers2016-05-291-8/+11
| | | | | | | | We need to maintain strict size requirements to keep the maximum size of the XFCE ISO below 737.280.000 bytes (703 MB) so that it fits on CDROM. You can always add optional/addons modules later if you create a USB Live medium out of the ISO.
* Some cosmetic cleanups. Eric Hameleers2016-05-291-9/+8
|
* make_slackware_live.sh: add "-X" switch to generate the ISO with xorriso. Eric Hameleers2016-05-291-26/+58
| | | | | | For some people, an ISO generated with xorriso instead of using mkisofs/isohybrid is more compatible with other tools or hardware. You need to install xorriso separately, it is not included with Slackware.
* VERSION bump to 1.0.1. Eric Hameleers2016-05-281-1/+1

* XFCE: take into account that the 32bit ISO does not contain a SMP kernel. Eric Hameleers2016-05-271-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | In order to successfully generate a 32bit ISO of the small XFCE variant, the variable SMP32 needs to be set to "NO" because the package for the SMP kernel will not be added (due to size constraints). Example commandline to achieve this: SMP32=NO ./make_slackware_live.sh -d XFCE -a i586
* slackpkg+: my package repository is no longer hosted on taper but on bear. Eric Hameleers2016-05-191-3/+3
| | | | | The URLs mentioning 'taper' instead of 'bear' will still work because the webserver on taper will do automatic redirection to bear.
* Slackware Live Edition: version 1.0.0.1.0.0 Eric Hameleers2016-05-171-1/+1
| | | | I think this 'liveslak' product is in a pretty stable state now.
